Park Cities – Talented and Gifted, PC-TAG, is a not-for-profit advocacy group for all gifted children in the Highland Park Independent School District. The main goals of PC-TAG are:
We strive to be effective advocates for gifted students and a valuable source of information for parents, teachers, and administrators.
PC-TAG was founded in 1993 by parents who were working with the Highland Park Independent School District to design a program for talented and gifted (TAG) students. All funding for student and educator scholarships, classroom materials, speakers, publications, web site and other community education activities is generated through memberships and fundraising events. Chapters are used as guidelines for discussion with personal parenting strategies and issues as the underlying format for each session. Topics covered include discipline, motivation, peer relations, siblings, stress, perfectionism, depression, communication and parent relationships. Other comments from our parents are: "It is great to have all the issues and great suggestions in one book!" "I can come here and feel forgiven for some of the mistakes I've made – and get new suggestions to move past them." "Sometimes gifted kids feel like they are living alone on an island. It's nice to find other people living on that same island."
